Roofing takeoff for roofing supply. Membrane, insulation and metal, measured.
Roofing takeoff for roofing supply turns a roofer's plans into the material a branch quotes: membrane or shingles with insulation by the layer, edge metal, coping and base flashing by the foot, and every drain, curb and penetration with its accessories. Underneath you can run the roofing recipes on your own areas, compare a roofing order part by part, read our view on edges, and save the recipes as a CSV.

Can a roofing supplier get a material list from the roof plans?
Yes. Ruh measures each roof assembly, edge and flashing type separately and counts drains, curbs and penetrations, then turns them into material: membrane with its laps, insulation by layer, fasteners and plates, coping with cleats and nailers, and drain sumps and target sheets. Fifteen roofing recipes come with it, all editable, and your first takeoff is free of charge.

How many bundles does a shingle roof take?
0.03 bundles per square foot in the app's starting recipe, which is 3 bundles per roofing square of 100 square feet, plus 10 percent waste, with underlayment and nails on their own lines. Put in roof area, edge length or a drain count to see the rest, unpriced.

TPO 60 mil mechanically attached over two layers polyiso on steel deck, per SF
Order list for 24,000 square feet of TPO 60 mil mechanically attached over two layers polyiso on steel deck. A sample input: change it to the quantity on your set.

Cut-edge sealant, TPOHow it is builtOne gallon per 2,000 LF of cut edge, allowing one cut edge along every seam. 1 / 9.5 = 0.105 LF per SF, and 0.105 / 2,000 = 0.0000525 GAL per SF, taken as 0.00006 | 0.00006 GAL | 1.44 GAL | None | 1.44 GAL |
Each line is the measured quantity times the recipe’s factor. Lines the recipe marks as whole units, such as sheets, boxes and hangers, are rounded up before waste, the way the app rounds them. Round the with-waste figure up to whole pieces when you build the order.
What this cannot tell you: roof slope the plans do not state, or a wind uplift pattern. Where the plans leave slope out, a person confirms it before steep-slope materials are figured, and the fastener rates are starting values, not an uplift calculation.
What does a roofing order carry?
One big area and a long list of edges and penetrations. Each row shows where that part sits on a roofing set, how it is taken off, and what lands on the order.

| Part of the order | Where it is on the set | How it is taken off | What it becomes on the order |
|---|---|---|---|
| Low-slope field | Roof plan and roof assembly details | Square feet by assembly | Membrane with laps, insulation by layer, fasteners and plates |
| Steep-slope field | Roof plan, slopes and sections | Square feet of roof surface, slope-adjusted | Shingle bundles, underlayment rolls, nails |
| Edges and coping | Roof plan and edge details | Linear feet by profile | Edge metal or coping, cleats, splice plates, wood nailers |
| Base flashing | Wall and parapet details | Linear feet | Membrane flashing, termination bar, sealant |
| Drains and penetrations | Roof plan and the plumbing plan | Counted per type | Drains, sumps, target sheets, boots, clamps and mastic |
| Gutters and downspouts | Elevations and the roof plan | Linear feet | Gutter, hangers, downspouts, straps and elbows |
Typical practice, not a standard. Assemblies and warranty requirements differ by job, so they come from the set.
What do branches get wrong about roof quotes?
Our opinion: Roof quotes come up short at the edges. The field is one area that anyone can scale, but coping, edge metal, base flashing and every penetration are separate lines, and in the app's starting recipe a single roof drain carries a tapered sump, a receiver and clamp, a target sheet and water cut-off mastic. Coping runs two feet of cleat for every foot of cap. A quote built from squares alone leaves those edge accessories off when the roof has a parapet. Measure the perimeter and count the penetrations, and the accessories are on the quote.
What it does and does not do
What it does today
- ✓Measures each roof assembly, edge and flashing type separately from drawing PDFs
- ✓Holds unknown slopes for a person instead of assuming them
- ✓Turns every area, edge and penetration into material lines with waste
- ✓Prices from your own price list first, with the source on every line
- ✓Exports as PDF, CSV or JSON
What it does not do
- Wind uplift or fastening pattern calculations
- Tapered insulation layouts
- Purchase orders
- Reading a reply or a quote back into the list
- Links to your ERP or point-of-sale system
Your first roofing takeoff is free.
Send a roofing set your branch was asked to quote and we take it off at no charge. The roofing recipes also download as a CSV.

Questions roofing suppliers ask
Answers for roofing branches on slope and edges.
What is roofing takeoff for suppliers?
Roofing takeoff for suppliers is measuring the roof areas, edges and penetrations on a roofer's plans so the supplier can quote the whole system. Ruh takes off the roof and applies branch pricing, and the branch approves the result.
Does it adjust for slope?
Are coping, edge metal and flashing included?
What roofing drawings should we send?
